Severely damaged this incredibly rare , important and locally produced image of Marianno Vallejo's Lachryma Montis estate at 3rd and Spain st's in Sonoma is beyond special. Despite it's top loss of paper , it shows with the utmost detail the estate in its prime, as drawn and then lithographed by CC Kuchel and Emir Dresel. Premiere lithographers in early California . Pioneers themselves, working in San Francisco as the most celebrated documentarians of their living California history and then ultimately retiring to Sonoma , as establishing partners of Kuchel-Dresel- Gundlach & Bundschu in 1859,through the purchase of lands from the Buena Vista viti-cultural society next door. Worthy of restoration , to increase its long term value as a great rarity.
