Severe tanning along 1st crease left side, entire length of the map, repaired and stabilized but visible and effecting price greatly. 1st federal Map to Call Bigler Lake , Lake Tahoe. A joint map for California & Nevada due to all surveyors, miners and federal staff being requested from California to support the establishment of Nevada, following the Comstock discovery of Silver in 1862. Federal document relating to land within California and Nevada particularly the Spanish, Mexican and US land grant confirmations of the 1855-63 period, but now also the Silver claims and communities established. Surveys status, topography and the most data produced regading ownership included with the 433 confirmed land grants for 1863 listed in the insert box, plus surveyed on the map and enumerated within its boundary , thus documenting the confirmation of land grants through the General Land Office of the federal government.
