1844(1830) Blue Backed Chart of Cuba and the Windward Islands

34" x 54" lithographic chart mounted to maritime backing paper in Blue with pipette edge in fine condition. Insert map of Havana Cuba, a chart covering from the tip of Florida, Key Biscayne down to and including all of Cuba, and over to the Windward Islands , St Martinique , Etc. A fine example of an early navigation chart known as a "blue back" , the staple of the maritime industry in the 19th century. Reliable and rugged, most charts of this nature were proprietary to the Captain of a vessel or Ship owner and would be retained beyond retirement .Currently stored in the large items / wall map archive awaiting photographing for this listing
