8" x 10" copper engraved view of the Temple of Pluto , in Hierapolis Greece, Site of the "Gate to Hell" , portal to the underworld and site of animal sacrifice dating back for 2500 years . Studied in modern times , the grotto below this Temple is filled with unusually high levels of CO2 from subterranean volcanic off-gassing , Fatal and likely the origins of its mystic moniker. Fine condition and interesting texture aesthetically.
