Fine Condition , having bright folios with wide margins and clear dark impression. Occassional smudge from archive handling as seen. Library blind stamp (WM) and embossed from Ware Memorial Library at Columbia, Bought at auction from the Ernst Gerber Estate . From the 1784 publication by Pierre le jeune Duflos titled: "Recueil d'estampes representant les grades, les rangs et les dignites suivant le costume de toutes les nations existantes". An illustrated book of costumes of the present and historic figures in France and throughout Europe. Celebrated in its time and popular through the last 240 years for being colorful and pleasantly effected , even if somewhat inaccurate in personal feature characterization. We see these images being sold digitally , but these are original and the real thing as described.
