Tabula Russiae, 1635
Made by Willem Blaeu in Amsterdam, 1635. 22 1/2" x 19" in size. Handsome copper engraved map of Russia and Lithuania by a prominent Dutch mapmaker. Includes insert map of Moscow as well as a prospect for Archangel, Russia's only northern port until the founding of St. Petersburg in 1700. Decorated with three figures in fine garb. Fine map with good content and detail. Very good condition but with some minor tears, most have been repaired. Also has a stamp from The Holland Society of New York at top margin - text on reverso.
