South America, 1848

SKU: SA014

Mountain Chains of South America. Made by William Blackwood and Sons in Edinburgh, 1848. 21 3/4" x 26 1/4" in size. Fine and unusual geophysical map of South America showing mountain chains as lines. No topography to date, just an acknowledgement of existence. Inserts of Bolivia and Quito plus elevation pictographs of the table lands of each region. An early and exciting map. Large, fine condition on this double sheet folio.
