1885 Memorial Ribbon for the passing on President US Grant- Oakland Ca based

rare momento of the passing of a beloved president. Among the most popular ever, Grant was mourned nationwide with great ceremony ,despite being out of office for 8 years, but he died reletively young , destitute from bad investments and of throat cancer , likely due to his famous cigar habit. Tis ribbon survives from an estate in Oakland from the period  2 5/8" x 6 3/4" , some soiling but very strong and stabile , very good to fine condition for this 135 year old textile
